Branch participation in EF, LAF, Tech Trek
 Tech Trek
Our local branch is proud of its support for the Tech Trek program, a project of AAUW-CA. Tech Trek encourages young girls to pursue their interests in the fields of science, math and technology by offering scholarships to a weeklong science camp at UCI. The program is open to area girls who have completed 7th grade, have been recommended by a science teacher and have been chosen by a Branch committee on the basis of a written essay and a brief interview. We're delighted  by the quality of our applicants.
Educational Foundation

On March 17, we will hear from a distinguished EF Recipient, Kristen Kavanaugh

EF is the largest source of funding exclusively for graduate women. The Foundation supports aspiring scholars around the globe, teachers and activists in local communities, women at critical stages of their careers, and those pursuing professions where women are underrepresented. There is funding for  groundbreaking research, fellowships and grants for outstanding women from around the globe.  Also there are special awards, vital community action projects, symposia, roundtables and forums.

Our Branch has completed funding a Research and Projects Grant #4252, with the assistance of several local branches. The largest source of funding for EF is the Annual Home Tour on the first Sunday in May.

Legal Advocacy Fund
Luncheon, February 18 is set at Laguna Woods
LAF is the nation's largest legal fund focused solely on sex discrimination in higher education. It provides a support system for women who are challenging discriminatory practices in higher education.
AAUW members and others contribute money, time and expertise to strengthen the Legal Advocacy Fund's efforts to end sex discrimination in higher education.
In February 2010 our Branch cosponsored a fund raising event to support the advancement of LAF.
